Mr. Gaiman, I have been ridiculed and flat out bullied and told I am not a proper fan of yours because I do not support your Wife. I have nothing against your wife. I find that she is an amazing person and isn't afraid to follow her own path, which is something I admire. Her music just isn't my cup of tea. I just want to sit and talk about your work with out being told how wrong I am. It has gotten to the point I can no longer enjoy reading in public with out the fear of judgment. Any advice?

You are a fan of mine if you like what I write. You are a fan of hers if you like her music or her book. There is undoubtedly a Venn diagram in which the two circles of Neil and Amanda fans intersect, but I’m sure there are lots of people who love her music who wouldn’t like my books, and vice versa. It’s personal taste: you don’t have to account for it, change it to please others or, ever, apologise for it.
